"There is no Netherworld, no terrifying legends about demons that will appear from below and snatch away your children. Just looking out your window will do, and you may see some walking by."
This world, inhabited by both humans and demons, but governed by the latter, has a very unknown history only kept to the King and his people - the world and what he calls its "balance" is kept stable by five towers, each containing a seal. Assigned to each tower is a Guardian, the demon servants most close to the King.
Though for too long now, he hasn't heard from any of them except for the one stationed with him at the moment. And when a young human male, bearing a tattoo strikingly similar to those of the Guardians, appear, His Majesty is silently realizing something is happening that he's not going to be fond of.
Keeping his secrets to himself, the King sends one of his most trusted Guardians with the human, hoping to find out why the towers and their seals have been left alone - while at the same time keeping a close eye on the young man who's not aware of his worth.
